OTS Deputy Secretary General participated in the Global Zero Waste Forum held in Istanbul
On 17-18 October 2025, Mr. Merey Mukazhan, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), participated in the Global Zero Waste Forum organized by Zero Waste Foundation held in Istanbul.

A highlight of the Forum was the Ministerial-Level Round Table Meeting on Zero Waste, led by the First Lady of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Emine Erdoğan, who has played a pioneering role in championing the global Zero Waste movement. The Round Table convened Ministers and senior government officials to promote collaborative action, share best practices, and elevate the importance of zero waste policies on the international agenda.

During the roundtable session, Deputy Secretary General Merey Mukazhan delivered a speech, expressing the Organization of Turkic States’ strong support for environmental sustainability and zero waste initiatives. He emphasized the need for coordinated regional and international efforts to reduce waste, protect natural resources, and promote circular economy models. Mr. Mukazhan also reaffirmed the commitment of the OTS to supporting Member States in implementing effective environmental strategies aligned with global climate goals.

The Global Zero Waste Forum served as a crucial platform for fostering dialogue between governments, civil society, and private sector actors. Through panel discussions, technical sessions, and high-level meetings, participants explored innovative solutions to global waste challenges and underscored the urgency of a sustainable future.

The active engagement of the OTS at the Forum reflects its ongoing commitment to advancing environmental cooperation among Turkic States and beyond.
