In the framework of his working visit to the United Mexican States, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev met with Mr. Mario Alejandro Mendoza Castañeda, Director-General for Special Projects and International Development Cooperation Funds of the Mexican Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AMEXCID), and Mr. Santiago Ruy Sánchez de Orellana, General Coordinator for International Affairs of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Mexico.
The Secretary General provided an overview of the OTS, its goals, and activities, highlighting OTS’s growing engagement in the fields of economy, science, agriculture and sustainable development. He also informed the counterparts about the importance of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the OTS and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), which establishes a solid foundation for joint efforts in agricultural research, innovation and food security.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on exploring avenues of cooperation between Mexico and the OTS, including agricultural innovation, research dialogue, sustainability, and family farming development. They discussed potential synergies through AMEXCID’s international cooperation frameworks and the Ministry of Agriculture’s programs in rural and sustainable development.
The sides expressed readiness to maintain close communication to identify practical and mutually beneficial projects in areas of shared interest, aiming to enhance agricultural productivity, promote rural resilience, and strengthen ties between Mexico and the Turkic States through innovation-driven collaboration.
