Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev moderated the Ministerial meeting, which was hosted by Assistant of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Public and Political Affairs, and Head of Department, H.E. Mr. Ali Hasanov.
Mr. Mustafa Akış, the Chief Adviser of the President of the Republic of Turkey and Member of the Board of TRT, Mr. Marat Azilhanov, Vice-Minister of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Mrs. Baktygul Noruzbaeva, Director of Information and Mass Communication Department of the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic participated as the Heads of delegations in the meeting.
Mr. Nushiravan Maharramov, Chairman of National Television and Radio Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Aslan Aslanov, Chairman of the Board of the “Azertac” Information Agency, Mr. Balakishi Kasumov, General Director of Public TV and Radio Broadcasting Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mrs. Maya Bekbayeva, Director of Kazakh TV, Mr. Erkin Mukhamedzhanov, Director of «Qazaqstan TV» and Mr. Kubanichbek Taabaldiyev, Director of Khabar National Information Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic were also attended the meeting.
In his opening speech, Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev emphasized that Information and Media is one of the priorities on the agenda of the Turkic Council. He pointed out that based on documents adopted during the previous meetings of Ministers of information and Media of the Turkic Council and existing bilateral relations between them in this sphere Turkic countries can achieve a lot together since they all have the same cultural and historical background, which is highly vital in terms of generating the common relevant content to be broadcasted by our media organs.
Assistant of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Public and Political Affairs, and Head of Department, H.E. Mr. Ali Hasanov underlined that this cooperation should serve to protect the interests of the Turkic peoples in Eurasia and around the world. He said that mutual relations in the television industry should be expanded. He also noted that TV Channels of the Member States should broadcast national holidays of each other and media outlets of the Member States of the Turkic Council should provide information support to each other mutually.
Mr. Mustafa Akış, the Chief Adviser of the President of the Republic of Turkey and Member of the Board of TRT in his speech talked about the TRT AVAZ which was launched in 2009 with the purposes to be a cultural bridge between Turkey and the Turkic-speaking vast geography. TRT Avaz, in addition to the special content programs prepared for the Turkic speaking countries and sister communities that form the broadcasting geography, is also contributing to the development of bilateral and multi-cultural relations and leads to the emergence of new areas of cooperation. He mentioned that the Turkish side is planning to further widen the activities of TRT AVAZ and for his end they rely on the support of the Turkic World.
Mr. Marat Azilhanov, Vice-Minister of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan underlined that his country is supporting the further development of the cooperation among TV Channels and News Agencies of the Member States of the Turkic Council. He proposed to prepare a joint documentary film related to the article of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev “Seven Facets of the Great Steppe”. He also expressed his full support to broadcast national movies and serials of the Member States in their TV Channels.
Mrs. Baktygul Noruzbaeva, Director of Information and Mass Communication Department of the Ministry of Culture, Information and Toursim informed that her country is broadcasting news and videos related to the Member States of the Turkic Council. Kyrgyzstan is interested in airing of the information to the broad geography. She also emphasized that News Agencies should also focus on their capacity building and reputation to be a source of information among the World News Agencies.
The Parties agreed to set up a Joint FTP Pool to which they can download programs (in the formats like MP4, HD, M2P, AVI, and similar ones) and video materials on agreed categories such as news, short movies, cultural, historical and sports programs including traditional sports.
Upon the information given by the Secretariat on the project proposal given by the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan H.E. Nursultan Nazarbayev on “100 People of the Turkic world” and “Sacred Places of the Turkic world” projects at Cholpon-Ata Summit’, Parties agreed to work closely to produce documentaries, short films and videos with the Secretariat and Turkic Academy which is preparing the Concept Paper on the said subject.
TRT AVAZ will also organize an International Forum dedicated to Turkic World similar to TRT World Annual Forum in October coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the Nakhchivan Agreement which established the Turkic Council.
At the end of the meeting, TRT Avaz documentary along the destination of the Modern Silk Road Joint Tour Package highlighting the history and culture of the Turkic Council Member States was screened.
The Parties agreed to convene the Third Meeting of the Ministers in charge of Information and Media of the Turkic Council in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in 2020.
One of the important outcomes of the meeting was the signing of the Cooperation Protocol among the Public Broadcasting Institutions of the Member States of the Turkic Council to regulate technical issues for effective cooperation among the public TV Channels.
