Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) - The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) is mandated by its Member States to promote education, science, and culture in the Islamic world. It serves as the leading institution within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) framework, dedicated to fostering sustainable development, preserving cultural heritage, and advancing scientific research and innovation among its Member States.


Establishment of the Partnership

The Parties agreed to formalize their relations on the basis of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation. Upon the invitation of the Director-General of the ICESCO, the MoU between the OTS and ICESCO was signed on 13 June 2024 in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco.


Advancing Cooperation Framework

11 November 2024: The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), H. E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, met with the Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, within the framework of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan.


Focus Areas and Future Collaborations

-          Environmental protection;

-          Climate change mitigation.

Currently, the Parties are expected to sign the Joint Action Plan in 2025.
