OTS and UNIDO join forces to advance sustainable development, focusing on clean energy, innovation, agribusiness, and private sector growth.

Establishment of the Partnership
25 November 2024: The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Secretary General H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Director General Mr. Gerd Müller signed a Joint Declaration to strengthen their collaboration in promoting inclusive and sustainable industrial development. Key focus areas include:  
•    Energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable environmental management;
•    Digital development and innovation;
•    Agribusiness and agro-value chain development;
•    Support to the private sector and investment promotion; 
•    Capacity development and industrial policy advice.


Focus Areas and Future Collaborations
Prioritized areas for future collaboration between two Organizations are as following:
•    Strengthening clean energy and energy efficiency through promoting renewable and green energy sources and energy-saving measures in energy-intensive industries;
•    Environmental protection and sustainability through circular economy practices, resource efficiency, cleaner production, and waste and water management;
•    Promoting digital transformation and frontier technologies to enhance economic competitiveness and increase productivity;
•    Strengthening the region's agro-industrial value chains and rural development to enhance food security and agribusiness development; 
•    Supporting the private sector in the Turkic region by creating an enabling environment for SME development and investment promotion;
•    Improving national and regional quality infrastructure to enhance trade competitiveness, smart production, intra-regional connectivity, and integration into global value chains;
•    Conducing research, providing policy advice, and building institutional capacity to develop conducive policies, regulatory frameworks, and approaches in mutually beneficial areas of mutual interest.
