A new Alliance of Logistics Centers and Cargo Carriers has been established under the aegis of the Organization of Turkic States at the inaugural meeting of the Alliance's founders that took place on 28 June 2024 in Tashkent.
Chaired by OTS Deputy Secretary General Dr. MirvokhidAzimov, the meeting was attended by over 100 participants, including representatives from more than 30 major logistics centers, ports, and transport companies from OTS member states. High-level officials and representatives from Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Customs Committee, along with diplomatic missions from OTS countries, also participated in the event.
In his opening speech, Deputy Secretary General Azimov emphasized the importance and timeliness of this initiative, put forward by private sector representatives from Uzbekistan. He noted that it is fully aligned with the OTS Transport Connectivity Program and expressed hope that the new structure will foster private sector involvement in transport collaboration within the Turkic region, contributing to the implementation of instructions from the Presidents of the OTS countries.
The newly established Alliance seeks to unify major logistics centers, carriers, terminals, and ports across Turkic states, promoting efficient cooperation, improving transport infrastructure, attracting investments through public-private partnerships, and introducing innovative solutions for fast, regular, and cost-effective freight transport. With over 20 founding members, the Alliance plans to expand its membership further.
During the event, participants highlighted the symbolic significance of establishing this Alliance ahead of the OTS leaders' Summit in Shusha, Azerbaijan, in July 2024, devoted to transport and connectivity. Following the meeting, the Founding Agreement was signed, and the Charter of the Alliance was adopted by the founders. Mr. Askar Kadirov, Head of the Alliance Key Assets Group (Uzbekistan), was appointed as the Alliance’s Secretary General.
