Ambassador Ramil Hasanov, Secretary General of the Turkic Council participated in the opening ceremony of the UN Alliance of Civilizations 7th Global Forum on 26 April in Baku.

At the ceremony, HE Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic Of Azerbaijan addressed the participants and welcomed them to Baku. In his address, he underlined that multiculturalism is the state policy of Azerbaijan. After him, Mr. Nasir Al Nasser, High Representative of UNAOC took the floor and expressed his appreciation to the host and the participants to promote multiculturalism and constructive dialogue in the world with the guidance of Sustainable Development Goals and mentioned the activities that UNAOC carries out in this direction.

Following this, HE Ban ki Moon, Secretary General of the United Nations participated in the ceremony with a video conference. Following him, Mr. José Manuel García-Margallo, Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Spain that is the co-sponsor country of UNOAC addressed the audience and noted effective ways need to be found against the global threats such as terrorism and radicalization. At the end of ceremony, HE Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Turkey, as the co-sponsor of UNAOC took the floor and highlighted the importance of concepts such as dialogue, mutual understanding, multiculturalism and harmony in diversity to eradicate the root causes of terrorism, radicalization and xenophobia. The Forum welcomes more than 4000 participants together with the world leaders coming from around 140 countries.
