National carrier CJSC Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) launched direct flights via route Baku-Bishkek-Baku from 26 October 2014 onwards.
On October 26 2014, a ceremony took place on the occasion of the opening of the first flight from Baku to Bishkek with the participation of Turkic Council Secretary General Mr. Ramil Hasanov, Mr. Fattah Heydarov, Member from Azerbaijan of the Council of Elders of the Turkic Council and the representatives of ministries and departments, the business community, and media.
The direct flights between the capitals and other cities of the Turkic world will obviously contribute to the development of economic relations and facilitate trade between the member states This is a remarkable step towards the removal of barriers to transportation in the framework of the Turkic Council.
After the official ceremony, Mr. Ramil Hasanov and Mr. Fattah Heydarov, went to Biskek with the first flight in order to participate in the 8th Meeting of Council of Elders of the Turkic Council.
The flights will be operating twice a week.
