Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Abzal Saparbekuly accompanied by Project Director Pelin Musabay Baki had a meeting with the Senior Officials of the International Fund for Agriculture and Development (IFAD), a specialized agency of the UN on 3 March 2016 at IFAD Headquarters in Rome.
Mr. Raşit Pertev, Secretary of IFAD, Ms. Khalida Bouzar, Director of Near East, North America and Europe, Mr. Luis Jimenez-Mcinnis, Director of Partnership and Resource Mobilization, Mr. Abdelhamid Abdouli, Country Programme Manager of Near East, North Africa and Europe Division, Ms. Alessandra Zusi Bergés, Officer-in-Charge of Governing Bodies Office and Ms. Helen Terry, Officer-in-Charge of Member States Liaison and Protocol Office attended the meeting from IFAD side.
The awareness of possible cooperation areas between the Turkic Council and IFAD on promoting rural and agricultural developments in the region were taken up at the meeting.
Particularly, it was decided that there is ample room to alunch cooperation between the two organizations on the projects related to the rural development along side the Silk Road with the perspective of South-South cooperation.
Thus, the developmental side of the Turkic Council Modern Silk Road Joint Tour Package Project was explained in detail to IFAD side during the meeting.
