Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council, Mr. Gismat Gozalov and Project Director Mr. Jeyhun Shahverdiyev attended High-Level side event “Central Asia calls for International Solidarity” on the margins of the 74th UN General Assembly High-Level Week on September 27, 2019 in New York.
The side event was organized jointly by the Permanent Missions of the Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Tajikistan and Republic of Uzbekistan and the European Union to the United Nations and was dedicated to the problems of uranium mining activities and its consequences in Central Asia.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, H.E. Mr. Chingiz Aidarbekov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary H.E. Mr. Peter Sziyyarto, Permanent Representatives of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to the UN, as well as High-level representatives of the UN Member States, international organizations and financial institutions called on the participants to help strengthening international solidarity and attracting additional financial resources for the practical solution of the environmental problem of uranium heritage in Central Asia.
On the margins of the side event, Deputy Secretary General Mr. Gismet Gozalov held meetings with the high level officials of the Turkic Councils Member States, Hungary and the representatives of the international organizations.
