Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ömer Kocaman and Project Director Ali Çiviler attended the event held on December 9, 2019 at the Turkic Council’s European Office in memory of the famous Hungarian Turkologist Istvan Mandoki Kongur and Kumuk poet Badrudtin Magometov.
The event took place at the Turkic Council European Office, which was inaugurated with a ceremony on September 19, 2019 with the participation of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Member States and Hungary, was attended by the Secretary General of TURKSOY Dusen Kasseinov, Prof.Dr. Ahmet Bican Ercilasun, Deputy Undersecretary of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andras Baranyi, Former Undersecretary of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andras Kelemen, Director of the Europe Office of the Turkic Council and retired ambassador and scholar Janos Hovari Azerbaijan and Turkey's ambassadors resident in Budapest, members of the diplomatic corps, academics and members of the press.
In the scope of this activity, which was the first event held in the office after its inaguartion, Istvan Mandoki Kongur’s academic career and his contribution to Turcology studies, as well as the famous Kumuk poet Badrutdin Magometo's book “Kopuk Üzengi” which was dedicated to Mandoki and was traslated to Turkish by TURKSOY, was persented.
Speaking at the opening, Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ömer Kocaman, mentioned the traces of many Hungarian thinkers, politicians, soldiers and Turkologists in Turkic history and made evaluations on the developing relations between Hungary and the Turkic Council and the Turkic Speaking Countries.
Following this ceremony, the delegations attended the reception organized in honor of Kazakhstan National Day.
