The Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) organized an online meeting with the aim of discussing ways to increase low-cost flights among the Member States on 19 June 2023.
The meeting brought together representatives from transport and tourism ministries and civil aviation authorities of the Member States, as well as air companies operating in the Turkic region.
In his opening remarks, OTS Deputy Secretary General Mirvokhid Azimov underlined that in the Declaration of the Samarkand Summit, Presidents tasked the relevant Ministries of the Member States to encourage national civil aviation authorities to cooperate and promote a liberal air transport policy to expand existing air transport and air cargo networks and low-cost flights to increase trade volume, passenger flow, and touristic activity.
During the meeting, delegations made presentations on the current state of low-cost flights among the Turkic countries and engaged in interactive discussions, addressing the challenges faced by low-cost carriers in the region and identifying opportunities for collaboration.
