First Meeting of the Ministers in charge of Youth and Sports of the Turkic Council was hosted by the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Turkey, Akif Çağatay Kılıç, on 4 March 2016 in Istanbul.
Besides the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Turkey Akif Çağatay Kılıç, the ministerial meeting, which was moderated by the Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Ramil Hasanov, was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan Azad Rəhimov, the Minister in charge of Youth and Sports of Kyrgyz Republic Sheyshekul Bakirov, Chairman of the Sport and Physical Education Committee of the Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yelsiyar Kanagatov, Director of Department of Youth Policy at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roza Karibzhanova, the Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Istanbul Yerkebulan Sapiyev, as well as a number of high level bureaucrats from the member states.
In the course of the discussion among the esteemed Ministers and the Secretary General, the Parties addressed the topics such as the Second World Nomad Games to be hosted by Kyrgyzstan in September 2016; Turkic University Sports Games (Turkic Universiade); Turkic Councli International Youth Camp, Turkic Council Youth Festival; and establishment of a Youth Council that will regularly convene representatives of Youth NGOs of the member states in advance of the meetings of the Ministers in charge of Youth and Sports of the Turkic Council.
In this regard;
Parties approved the “Regulations of the Second World Nomad Games” to be hosted by Kyrgyzstan in September 2016. They also agreed on the active involvement of the officials and teams from member states at the games.
It was agreed that the Turkic Council First Turkic University Sports Games (Turkic Universiade) would be hosted by Azerbaijan in 2018. Parties approved the “Terms of Reference” of the Games.
At the meeting it was also came to an agreement that the Second Turkic Council International Youth Camp would be organized in 2016 in Turkey, while it was underlined that the participation in the Youth Camp from the Member States should be twice the last year’s participation. The Third Turkic Council International Youth Camp is planned to be held in Kazakhstan in 2017.
Parties agreed that the “Turkic Council Youth Festival” would be held in June 2016 in Ganja, Azerbaijan.
Parties concurred with the proposal of regularly organizing a “Youth Council” meeting comprising representatives of Youth NGOs of the Member States in advance of the meetings of Ministers in charge of Youth and Sports of the Turkic Council for the purpose of reflecting views and expectations of the Youth to the Ministerial meeting.
Parties also decided that the Second meeting of the Ministers in charge of Youth and Sports of the Turkic Council would be convened in May 2017 in Azerbaijan.
The Agreed Minutes on the decisions taken at the meeting was signed by the Ministers and the Secretary General of the Turkic Council.
