Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev was received by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev on 7 October 2019.
Secretary General B.Amreyev briefed President Aliyev on his recent contacts and consultations with the Presidents of the Turkic Council Member States, as well as the preparations for the 7th Summit of the Turkic Council, which will take place on 15 October in Baku, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkic Council and events to be organized in this context.
Secretary General also expressed his gratitude to President Aliyev for his strong support given to the Turkic Council Agenda and for the constructive and active role of Azerbaijan in the cooperation process within the framework of the Turkic Council and the development of multilateral relations among the Turkic-Speaking States.
President Aliyev underlined the special significance of the upcoming Summit and its heavy agenda. He expressed his deep contentment with the Uzbekistan’s accession to the Turkic Council and opening of the European office of the Turkic Council in Hungary (Budapest) on 19 September 2019, which is aimed at developing the Council's relations with countries of the European Union and with other international organizations in Europe.
The President and the Secretary General discussed the implementation of the Decisions of the Heads of States on enhancing economic dimensions of the Turkic Cooperation. In this context, Secretary General Amreyev briefed the President Aliyev on the outcomes of 1st Businesses and Investment Forum of the newly established Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Turkic Speaking Countries hosted by the Government of Uzbekistan and efforts undertaken by the Secretariat to set up a Joint Investment Fund. He also informed the President on European office of the Turkic Council in Budapest, relations with Turkmenistan and international organizations.
President Aliyev reiterated his full support to the Secretary General of the Turkic Council in its efforts for enhancing relations including with non-Member countries and strengthening the cooperation with international organizations, as well as expanding the relations of the Council in the region and beyond.
President Aliyev expressed his hope that through the joint efforts of the Member States and Turkic Council Secretariat, the upcoming Turkic Council Summit will be a successful historic event for the benefit of all Turkic nations.
