Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev was received by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on 27 August 2019.
Secretary General B.Amreyev briefed President Tokayev on the recent activities of the Turkic Council, preparations for the upcoming Summit of the Turkic Council, which will take place on 14-15 October 2019 in Baku, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkic Council and events to be organized in this context.
Secretary General also expressed his gratitude for Kazakhstan’s continuous support given to the Turkic Council and the development of multilateral relations among the Turkic-Speaking States as well as strengthening the institutional capacity of the Turkic Council.
The President and the Secretary General discussed the implementation of the Decisions of the Heads of States on enhancing economic dimensions of the Turkic Cooperation. In this context, Secretary General Amreyev briefed President Tokayev on the establishment of the Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkic Speaking Countries and efforts undertaken by the Secretariat to set up a Joint Investment Fund. He also informed the President on opening of a representation office of the Turkic Council in Budapest, relations with non-member countries and international organizations, as well as the reform process of the Turkic Council.
President Tokayev reiterated his full support to the Secretariat of Turkic Council in its efforts for enhancing relations including with non-Member countries and strengthening the cooperation with international organizations, as well as expanding the visibility of the Council in the region and beyond.
President Tokayev wished the Secretary General success in his efforts in increasing the cooperation among Turkic Councils Members and expressed his hope that through the joint efforts of the Member States and Turkic Council Secretariat, the upcoming Turkic Council Summit will be a successful historic event for the benefit of Turkic nations.
