The 10th Meeting of the Official Foreign Policy Research Centers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held on 26 September 2024 in the Issyk-Kul region (Kyrgyz Republic).
Organized by the National Institute for Strategic Initiatives under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, the event brought together heads and senior officials from the Official Foreign Policy Research Centers of OTS Member States and Observers to strengthen cooperation and address key regional challenges.
Deputy Secretary-General of the OTS, Dr. Omer Kocaman, delivered the keynote speech, emphasizing the theme “Turkic World – One World.” He praised the OTS’s achievements across various sectors, including trade, energy, and digitalization, while highlighting the need for greater economic integration. Dr. Kocaman noted that mutual trade within the OTS still has significant untapped potential. In his remarks, Dr. Kocaman also discussed the strategic importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor and ongoing efforts to streamline customs procedures. He called for further collaboration on key agreements, such as the OTS Free Trade Agreement in Services and Investments, as well as Agreement on Digital Economy Partnership (e-commerce), to unlock the region’s full economic potential. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of educational cooperation and youth engagement to foster a shared identity among Turkic nations.
Participants also engaged in panel sessions on industrial cooperation, scientific collaboration, and joint responses to global challenges. These sessions focused on key areas such as transport, climate change, and security cooperation within the OTS region.
