In the framework of the International Observer Mission, Turkic Council delegation headed by Project Director Assan Mazhitov held bilateral meetings with officials regarding the Presidential Elections of Azerbaijan on 9 April 2018 in the city of Sheki.
The observation delegation of the Turkic Council to Sheki composed of project directors and representatives of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey met with the Head of Executive Authority of Sheki District Elkhan Usubov who shared general information on preperations in Sheki district regarding the Presidential Elections of Azerbaijan. He also stressed that for the government of Azerbaijan performance of the elections in accrodance with the the international standards and practices represents a great importance and the Turkic Council International Monitoring Mission will contribute to the process as well as to the rapprochement of the democratic relations among the Member States through the monitoring missions. In turn, Project Director Mazhitov informed the Head of Executive Authority of Sheki on the program and objectives of the delegation with regard to the election day.
The observers also met with the Director of the Sheki 115th Polling District of Central Elections Commision Mr. Rasim Azizov. The Director informed in depth the observers on the election process, number of electors and ballot boxes, pre-election initiatives as well as the measures taken for the succesful performance of the elections. The Director also answered the questions of observers on specific technical issues.
Project Directors of the Turkic Council Assan Mazhitov, Farid Damirli, Jyildiz Zuzakova and Ozge Pan, officials from the Central Election Commissions of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan Aygul Kayerbekova and Ludmila Kutuyeva, representative of Turkey, Hakan Buyukbas and Expert of the International Turkic Academy Timur Kozyrev were present at the meetings.
