On the margins of the International Conference entitled “The Role of the Kokand Khanate in the Development of Statehood and Cultural Heritage of the Turkic peoples” held in Kokand, Uzbekistan on June 8-10, 2022, conference participants visited a new facility of the Tourism Center being built in the campus of Kokand University.
Rector of Kokand University Sherzod Mustafakulov briefed the participants about the construction works of the Tourism Center being decorated with traditional ornament facades in national colourants. He emphasized that the establishment of the Center was proposed by Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev and was agreed upon during his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov in the framework of the 6th Meeting of the OTS Ministers in Charge of Tourism, held on 24 June 2021 in Kokand.
It was also underlined that the new Tourism Faculty, where 120 students from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds are currently enrolled, aims to generate competent labor with the greatest intellectual and cultural knowledge and professional skills, and to contribute to improving both the national and international tourism potential of Uzbekistan.
Rector Mustafakulov highlighted that Kokand University became a member of the Turkic University Union based upon recommendations of the OTS Secretary General to fully utilize the potential of the very instrument in strengthening cooperation and network among tourism-related higher education institutions.
During the visit to the Kokand University, delegations also got acquainted with the “Tafakkur Gulshani” (The symphony of the mind) monument that reflects the names of great writers of the Member and Observer States, the cornerstone of which had been laid down by the Ministers of Tourism at the above-referred ministerial meeting.
