Meeting of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) and TurkicBusiness and Investment Forum were held on 5 October 2019 in Tashkent.
TCCI meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev, President of TCCI and “TOBB”, Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of “ASK”, Mammad Musayev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the “Atameken”, Olzhas Ordabayev, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of the Kyrgyz Republic, Marat Sharshekeev, President of the CCI of Uzbekistan, Adkham Ikramov, Member of Board of Hungarian CCI, Jozeph Kovazh as well as Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan Yazguly Mamedov.
Chairman of CCI of Uzbekistan Adkham Ikramov expressed his happiness and hope that both TCCI meeting and the Forum will contribute a lot to increasing economic ties among the business communities of the Turkic Speaking States.
During his speech, the Secretary General of the Turkic Council, Baghdad Amreyev, reminded that the very idea of establishment of TCCI was born in Tashkent in 2018 and expressed his pleasure that TCCI organizes its first business and investment forum in Tashkent upon the request of H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev during Cholpon-Ata Summit.
During the meeting, issues of developing trade and enhancing economic cooperation among Turkic Council Member States, as well as strengthening regional cooperation through trade, industry and entrepreneurship were discussed. Parties also emphasized the necessity of simplification of customs and transit procedures for facilitating free movement of goods, capital, services and technologies, as well as creation of new financial instruments such as Joint Investment Fund.
At the meeting Uzbekistan and Hungarian Chambers of Commerce and Industry expressed their intention to join to the TCCI. Parties agreed to sign a Protocol on Membership with both CCIs during the next board meeting of the TCCI to be held on the margins of the 7th Summit of the Turkic Council on October 14, 2019 in Baku. Parties expressed that membership of Uzbekistan and Hungary in the TCCI will open new avenues for increasing trade volume among the Turkic Council Member States.
Following the meeting of TCCI, TurkicBusiness and Investment Forum was held. The Forum was attended by more than 500 participants, including the chairmen of the CCIs of the Turkic Council Member States, senior government officials, entrepreneurs and businessmen.
The First session of the Forum started with the welcoming speech of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Eliar Ganiev. In his address, Deputy Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the successful organization of the Forum in Tashkent and hoped that the new partnerships to be established in the framework of the Forum would further develop economic and trade relations among the Turkic Speaking States. He also shared with the participants achievements of Uzbekistan in the field of economy in recent years and future perspectives.
Secretary General of Turkic Council, Baghdad Amreyev in his speech extended his gratitude to the Republic of Uzbekistan, in particular to CCI of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade and all those who involved in realization this important event in a very limited span of time. He also informed the participants about economic potential of the Turkic countries and the opportunities for strengthening economic cooperation. He stressed that the accession of Uzbekistan to the Turkic Council would certainly give an impetus to the activities of the organization and strengthen cooperation efforts.
Secretary General emphasized that the main objective of the Forum is to promote intra-trade and therefore it provides a unique platform for brotherly Turkic countries’ entrepreneurs to explore new business opportunity in Uzbekistan.
The Presidents/Chairmen in their addresses underlined the significance of the Forum for strengthening relations between the business circles of the Turkic world, as well as for discussing the prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkic-speaking countries in the field of entrepreneurship, trade, investment and tourism.
At the Forum, agencies and institutions responsible for investment promotion of Uzbekistan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan made presentations about investment opportunities in their respective countries. During the “B2B” meetings organized with the participation of business circles of Turkic-speaking countries, the companies met their partners in priority sectors of Uzbekistan, such as production of building materials, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, food processing, oil and gas, chemical, automotive industry, textiles, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, tourism and ICT.
On the occasion of the Forum, Uzbek government hosted an official reception with a concert program, where famous Uzbek singer Farrukh Zakirov performed for the guest delegations and businessmen.
