In the framework of his official visit to Brussels, on 17 February 2015, Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Ramil Hasanov visited Ambassador Luis Felipe Fernande de la Pena, Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia in the European External Action Service (EEAS) of the European Union (EU).
At the meeting that constituted the first official contact between the two organizations, Secretary General briefed Manager Director de la Pena on the mission, vision and activities of the Council and he answered questions of the latter vis-a-vis the previous as well as upcoming projects of the Turkic Council. Furthermore, possible avenues of cooperation between the Turkic Council and the EU were taken up while issues of mutual interest were discussed. At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their strong desire in furthering contacts and launching collaboration between the two organizations.
Project Directors Pelin Musabay Baki and Farid Damirli accompanied Secretary General Hasanov at the said meeting.
