16th Meeting of the Working Group on Tourism of the Organization of Turkic States was organized on 9-10 February 2022 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The Meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan and attended by the experts on tourism from the relevant Ministries of the Member and Observer States.
At the opening speech, Deputy Secretary General Mirvokhid Azimov briefed the Participants regarding the activities conducted in the field of tourism under the umbrella of the Organization of Turkic States as well as plans and projects to be held in 2022.
At the meeting, Uzbek side made a detailed presentation on the "Tabarruk ziyarat" (Holy Ziyarat) project, which is the proposal of H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with an aim to raise public awareness of the legacy of the great holy leaders who have left huge mark on Turkic history. Parties raised their views and comments on the said Project and agreed to realize in due time.
During the Meeting, Parties also discussed the details of the “Turkic World Tourism Capital” project as well as events and activities to be organized in Kokand, first tourism capital of the Turkic World.
Experts on tourism from the Member States further prepared a “Joint Roadmap on Tourism Development” which will shed light to the prospective events to be held in the field of tourism in the upcoming period.
