Upon invitation of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, International Referendum Observation Mission of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), led by OTS Deputy Secretary General Mr. Sadi Jafarov, monitored the Republican Referendum on the construction of a nuclear power on 3-6 October 2024 in Astana.
The Mission was comprised of 11 people and included representatives from the OTS Secretariat, parliamentarians, government representatives and officials from Central Election Commissions, members of academia from the OTS Member States.
At the Referendum Day on 6 October 2024, the Mission has conducted the observation of the voting procedures in 24 polling stations in Astana.
Following the observation, the Mission presented the assessment on the Referendum with national, international and public media outlets at the press conference.
