Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Secretary General, Amb. Kubanychbek Omuraliev came together with the Ambassadors and Representatives of the ASEAN Ankara Committee at a meeting hosted by the Ambassador of Singapore, H.E. Jonathan Tow on 11 April 2023 in Ankara.
Chairman of the ASEAN Ankara Committee, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, H.E. Do Son Hai expressed that the meeting is a great opportunity to get acquainted with the OTS and its wide-ranging activities and thanked Secretary General for taking the interest in establishing long-lasting cooperation between OTS and ASEAN.
Noting the important role that ASEAN in the region with its growing economic, political, and cultural significance, Secretary General emphasized that laying the groundwork of cooperation between the organizations bears great advantages particularly in terms of enhancing trade and business relations between Southeast Asian countries and OTS members.
In this framework, Secretary General gave a general overview of OTS and its activities; and presented the mid-term goals of the Turkic cooperation in the areas of strategic importance for the next two decades as stipulated in the “Turkic World Vision – 2040”.
Secretary General added that the OTS devises a more effective approach to its external relations and aims at strengthening multilateral cooperation with prominent international and regional organizations, including ASEAN.
Parties exchanged ideas thoroughly on potential sectors of mutual interest that the two Organizations can effectively cooperate and discussed the possible ways to establish formal relations between them.
