Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Baghdad Amreyev was received by the President of Turkmenistan H.E. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow on 10 December 2021 in Ashgabat.
President Berdimuhamedow welcomed the Secretary General of the Turkic Council and emphasized that accession of Turkmenistan to the Organization is an important historic event that marked the beginning of a significant new stage of Turkmenistan's interaction within the Turkic world.
Secretary General Amreyev expressed gratitude to President Berdimuhamedow for his valuable contribution to the success of the last Istanbul summit and congratulated him on the International Day of Peace and Trust Forum organized by Turkmenistan.
He noted that the International Conference dedicated to the very occasion being held on 11-12 December 2021 became a unique platform for the development of focused objectives to ensure a sustainable culture of peace and trust.
During the meeting, the Parties discussed the outcomes of the 8th Istanbul Summit of held on 12 November 2021 and exchanged views on further actions for active engagement of Turkmenistan in the activities within the Organization as well as ways of realization of decisions taken by the Heads of State during the Summit.
The President and Secretary General touched upon establishing various cooperation forms between Turkmenistan and the other Turkic Cooperation Organizations, including TURKPA, Turkic Academy, Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and Turkic Chamber of Commerce (TCCI).
Exchanging views on establishment of the Turkic Investment Found, Parties voiced Organization’s focus on the development of economic and financial mechanisms among the Turkic States is fully aligned with Turkmenistan’s vision of promoting strong economic, trade and investment cooperation with the Caspian Sea area and the nearby regions.
Parties also discussed the avenues and joint steps for transforming the Caspian region into one of the largest international transport and transit links, facilitating transport operations and involving Turkmen ports to the Sister Ports Process within the Organization.
President of Turkmenistan further expressed the readiness of Turkmenistan to take active part in the projects of the Organization of Turkic States in the other areas of common interest.
Turkmen Leader and Secretary General also exchanged views on certain issues that are on the current global and international agenda.
