The President of Turkmenistan H.E. Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliyev on 10 December 2022 in Ashgabat.
President Berdimuhamedov welcomed the OTS Secretary General Omuraliyev and congratulated him for his appointment to this important post at the last Summit of the Organization.
Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliyev expressed gratitude to President Berdimuhamedov for his reception as well as for the valuable contribution of Turkmenistan to the cooperation process among the Turkic States and congratulated him on the timely organization of International Conference entitled “Dialogue Guarantee of Peace” in Ashgabat.
Secretary General congratulated the Turkmen leader on the International Day of Neutrality as well as for the award of “skillful diplomat” presented by the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan for his great personal contribution to strengthening the independence and permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, the implementation of a peaceful foreign policy, the implementation of global international programs, and the development of relations with foreign states and international organizations, as protecting the interests of Turkmenistan.
At the meeting, Secretary General briefed the Turkmen President on the outcomes of the Samarkand Summit and work programme of the OTS in the coming period.
President of Turkmenistan further expressed the readiness of Turkmenistan to take active part in the projects of the OTS in the areas of common interest.
Parties exchanged views on the future directions of cooperation, taking into account the huge opportunities in various fields. In this regard, implementation of joint projects and coordination of efforts in the fields of energy, transport, communication and trade have been identified as important areas. They stressed that expanding the scope of programs and projects of the OTS in the field of education, science and culture and developing effective relations in this field, enriching the mutually beneficial interstate cooperation with new meaning is of particular importance in solving today’s important problems.
Turkmen Leader and Secretary General expressed their confidence that the effective cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Organization of Turkic States will be further developed for the benefit of global welfare, and will ensure the strengthening of traditional trust and brotherly relations between countries and peoples. They also exchanged views on certain issues that are on the current global and international agenda.
