Project Director of the Turkic Council Pelin Musabay Baki made a presentation about the Turkic Council and its Modern Silk Road Joint Tour Package Project on 5 July 2017 in Ankara at the Training Programme on the Development and Promotion of Muslim Friendly Tourism (MFT) in the Member Countries of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) organized by the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC).
During her presentation, she mentioned about the structure of the Turkic Council, its working mechanism and its activities in the field of tourism.
In this regard, she focused on the Modern Silk Road Joint Tour Package Project, its background and the outcomes of the familiarization trips carried out by the Turkic Council Secretariat in April and May 2017 to the Turkic Council Member States with the participation of 79 journalists and tourism experts coming from 18 countries from USA to Singapore with the aim to present the project to the world tourism market.
She also told about the preparation of the website of the Joint Tour Package from where the online selling will be realized is going to be finalized soon. She added that the first commercial tours will be sold starting from September 2017 for Nowruz celebrations in March 2018.
At the end, she touched upon that the generous tourism potential of the Turkic Speaking States located along the traditional Silk Road that need to be further harnessed and accordingly reiterated the Turkic Council's commitment to reveal this potential in cooperation with the UN World Tourism Organization, UNDP and UN Office for South South Cooperation as well as possible other partners such as SESRIC and COMCEC.
