The OTS Drought Prevention Institute held its second board meeting on June 21, 2024, in an online format, chaired by the Executive Director of the Representation Office of the OTS in Hungary. The meeting gathered board members and representatives from the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency (HEPA), Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE), Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States, and the OTS Representation Office in Hungary.
During the meeting, the Board endorsed new Members of the Board, including H.E. István Vásáry, Head of the OTS Representation Office in Budapest and Chair of the Board; Mr. Ömer Kocaman, Deputy Secretary General of OTS; Ms. Özge Pan, Project Director at the Secretariat of the OTS; Mr. László Örlős, Head of the Office of International Affairs of HEPA and Operations Director of the Institute; and Mr. Gergő Péter Kovács, Deputy Director of the Institute of Agronomy at MATE Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, serving as External Professional Representative.
The Board discussed and approved the Rules of Procedure of the Institute, and exchanged views on the project selection mechanism. Additionally, they approved the scope of a project field trip planned to Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan to better understand local development needs and challenges in the region in terms of drought prevention.
The successful completion of the second board meeting underscores the commitment of the Organization of Turkic States to addressing environmental issues and promoting sustainable development within its member countries.
