The first online meeting of experts on discussions of the draft “Digital Economy Partnership Agreement between the Members of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS)” conducted on 7 February 2023.
At the Samarkand Summit of the OTS held on 11 November 2022, the Heads of State expressed the urgent need to create a favorable and attractive environment for expanding intra-trade relations among the Member and Observer States through introducing new trade instruments such as digital economy, and tasked the Organization to finalize the “Digital Economy Partnership Agreement among the OTS Member States” and prepare this Agreement for signing before the next OTS Summit.
During the meeting the Member States noted the importance of conducting such an Agreement within the framework of OTS and expressed their willingness to finalize the document until the next Summit.
It is expected that Agreement will promote sustainable, inclusive and stable development of the digital economy, facilitate and strengthen trade relations between the Parties through electronic commerce, and contribute to the development of trust in the electronic transactions between OTS members.
