The Secretary General of the OTS, H.E. Baghdad Amreyev, was received by the President of Turkmenistan, H.E. Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in Ashgabat on September 5., 2022.
Secretary General briefed H.E. Serdar Berdimuhamed on the Organization's current activities and the ongoing cooperation processes in the framework of the OTS.
The Secretary General accentuated the development of solid legal frameworks for effective multilateral cooperation among the member countries, particularly in key areas. B. Amreyev underlined in this regard the importance of finalizing the Agreement on International Combined Freight Transportation, Agreement on Simplified Customs Corridor, Free Trade Agreement in Services and Investments, and Agreement establishing the Turkic Investment Fund.
President expressed his satisfaction with the significant achievements of the Organization in maintaining multifaceted cooperation between the fraternal Turkic States and underlined the support of Turkmen leadership to the efforts of the Secretary General in this regard.
H.E. Serdar Berdimuhamedov reiterated the determination of Turkmenistan to play a more active role in the Organization, which would reveal the real potential of the cooperation within the framework of the Organization.
From this point of view, the President of Turkmenistan shared with the Secretary General his vision for developing existing cooperation mechanisms and creating new ones, especially in the economy, transportation, and energy sectors, as well as other cooperation areas like youth, culture, education, tourism, and health.
The Secretary General also briefed the President of Turkmenistan on the preparations for the upcoming OTS Summit to be held in Samarkand on November 11, 2022, and the crucial issues on the Summit's agenda. He hoped that Turkmenistan's role would increase during and in the aftermath of the Summit.
President expressed his confidence that the upcoming Samarkand Summit of the OTS would be another turning point for strengthening the Turkic World's unity and boosting the Organization's activities.
President and Secretary General also exchanged views on the pressing topics of the international and regional agenda.
