The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Baghdad Amreyev held a meeting with the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Aimagambetov on 11 May 2022 in Ankara on the margins of the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan H.E. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Türkiye.
Emphasizing the great importance that the OTS attaches to the cooperation in the fields of science and education, Secretary General Amreyev highlighted significant contributions by the Kazak side to the undertakings in these areas within the Organization.
Highlighting the successful efforts of the OTS Secretariat in improving relations among the Member States in various areas of mutual interest, Minister Aimagambetov stressed the unique role that education plays for building a stronger partnership and closer ties among our brotherly countries.
Secretary General and the Minister touched upon the current status of the projects and programs developed among the Member States such as Orkhun Exchange Programme of the Turkic University Union (TÜRKÜNİB), Common Turkic History, Geography and Literature Textbooks, the Student Exchange Programme among the secondary/ high schools as well as the Educational Exchange Program for education professionals of the Member States.
The parties also discussed the allocation of education grants in the universities of the Turkic States in priority areas of study, the recognition of diplomas and effective support for the younger generation.
They also exchanged views on the activities of OTS Member States for the upcoming period, including the agenda of the Ministerial Meeting planned to be held in Kazakhstan next month.
