Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States H.E. Baghdad Amreyev met with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E. Vladimir Norov on 31 May 2022 in Tashkent.
Secretary General shared with the Minister the latest activities of the Organization and its upcoming events. Discussing the main areas of current undertakings of the Secretariat of the Organization, especially in the field of economy, B. Amreyev and V. Norov centered their attention on the completion of agreements on simplified custom corridor, combined transport, preferential and free trade in services, as well as the Turkic Investment Fund.
Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov stressed that the Organization of Turkic States has dynamically and intensively conducted important events ranging from the Summits to expert level meetings on almost all spheres of the cooperation. He noted that it demonstrated the vitality of collaboration and the need to further deepen the relations among Member States.
The Parties discussed in detail the steps to be taken to hold the upcoming Summit, which will be held in Uzbekistan in November 2022, and agreed to work jointly for the preparation for the meeting of the Heads of the Turkic States.
Baghdad Amreyev and Vladimir Norov discussed a number of events planned to be realized in Uzbekistan, including the 4th Young Leaders Forum and declaration of Bukhara as the Youth Capital of the Turkic World to be held in Bukhara on 3-4 June 2022, International Conference “The role of the Kokand Khanate in the development of statehood and cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples” in Kokand on 8-10 June 2022, the meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture and the Turkic Agroforum in Tashkent on 3-4 July 2022.
They especially emphasized the progress in the implementation of several initiatives put forward by H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan, at the Summits of Heads of State in Baku, Turkistan and Istanbul.
Secretary General and Foreign Minister also exchanged their views on current political and economic situation in regional and global agenda.
