Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Baghdad Amreyev had a meeting with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Mehmet Nuri Ersoy on 28 February 2022 in Istanbul.
During the meeting, parties exchanged views on the ongoing cooperation in the field of culture within the Turkic World and prospective projects to be carried out in the upcoming period. They discussed in detail the agenda of the upcoming ceremony of declaring the Turkish city of Bursa as the cultural capital of the Turkic World for the year 2022, as well as the Extraordinary Meeting of the TURKSOY Permanent Council to be held in Bursa in March.
B. Amreyev and M. Ersoy welcomed the appointment of the current Deputy Secretary General of the OTS, Sultanbai Raev as the new Secretary General of TURKSOY at the Ministerial Meeting in Bursa. S. Raev will replace H.E. Ambassador Dusen Kaseinov, who served as the Head of this main cultural body of the Turkic World during the last decade.
Underlining the need to further deepen the cooperation in the tourism sphere among the OTS Member States; the Secretary General and the Minister emphasized that implementation of the various projects in tourism will play an important role and have a spillover effect for the further development of the economic activities within the Turkic World.
The Secretary General and the Minister also discussed developing the tourism sector in the new phase and the topics to be addressed at the 7th Ministerial Meeting on Tourism which will be organized in Azerbaijan in 2022.
The Parties further exchanged views on the current pressing issues of international and regional agenda and their reflections to the OTS Member States.
