The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), H.E. Baghdad Amreyev, received the European Union Special Representative (EUSR) for Central Asia, H.E. Terhi Hakala, who paid a visit to the OTS Headquarters in Istanbul on 17 August 2022.
EU envoy and the Secretary General discussed the regional and international cooperation opportunities between the Turkic states and the European Union.
Baghdad Amreyev pointed out that the OTS supports the EU initiatives in the Turkic World and highlighted the European efforts in the region to establish mutually beneficial strategic ties and attraction of investments in various areas such as transport, energy and digitalization.
Terhi Hakala expressed the growing interest of Europe in the activities of the Organization in recent years and briefed the Secretary General on the upcoming projects and events of the EU in Central Asia and South Caucasus which will contribute to strengthening the regional connectivity and development of the Trans-Caspian International Trade Route (Middle Corridor).
In this regard, parties exchanged views on cooperation opportunities between the OTS and the EU in specific priority areas.
Secretary General and Special Representative also discussed the key developments in the regional and global agendas.
