In an important meeting held on January 23, 2024, in Geneva, H.E. Amb. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), met with H.E. Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Geneva Office (UNOG), to discuss key developments and future collaborations between OTS and the United Nations.
One of the primary topics of discussion was the organization of the upcoming "Turkic Week in Geneva," a series of events to be organized by the Turkic Cooperation Organizations, namely the OTS, TURKSOY, TURKPA, Turkic Academy, and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation at the UNOG. Secretary General Omuraliev noted that this proposal has gained unanimous support from the Heads of States at the 10th OTS Summit on November 3, 2023, in Astana, as outlined in the Astana Declaration.
Director-General Valovaya expressed gratitude for the serious consideration given to her proposal and reiterated their readiness to assist the OTS Secretariat in making the "Turkic Week in Geneva" a resounding success, aiming to enhance the visibility of Turkic cooperation in Geneva.
The Parties exchanged views on the draft program of the event prepared in collaboration with OTS Member States and Turkic Cooperation Organizations and planning for possible venues with a preliminary schedule involving events at the UNOG premises.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to exploring new collaborative avenues between the OTS and UNOG in the future.
