The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) H.E. Amb. Kubanychbek Omuraliev met with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan H.E. Rashid Meredov.
H.E. Minister R.Meredov expressed his gratitude to the OTS for its comprehensive support of the Turkmen initiatives and highly assessed undertakings of the Secretariat of the Organization in promoting multi-layered activities of the Organization aimed at strengthening the unity between Turkic States.
Foreign Minister and Secretary General discussed the current state of cooperation processes within the Organization, prospects for the development of the Organization in the upcoming period, and the planned activities of the OTS particularly in the areas that Turkmenistan attaches great importance. They also exchanged views on establishing new mechanisms of the OTS for better coordination of advanced cooperation that would enhance energy and transport connectivity in the region.
They noted the importance of developing existing cooperation mechanisms, especially in the economy, transport, and energy sectors, as well as other cooperation areas like youth, culture, and education.
H.E. Rashid Meredov and H.E. Amb. Kubanychbek Omuraliev discoursed the outcomes of the last OTS Summit held in Samarkand on November 11, 2022. In this vein, parties exchanged views on the means of developing cooperation opportunities in the areas that were highly assessed by the Heads of State of the OTS. They expressed contentment with the enhancing role of Turkmenistan and further deepening cooperation within the framework of the OTS.
The Parties further discussed the involvement of Turkmenistan in the activities of the affiliated organizations of the OTS; namely TURKPA, TURKSOY, Turkic Academy, Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, and Turkic Chambers of Commerce and Industry, as well as its potential, partaking in the Turkic Investment Fund.
Parties exchanged views on the development of regional security and emphasized the importance of preserving sustainable development of the OTS Member and Observer States, as well as of other neighboring countries.
