On September 5, 2022, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) H.E. Baghdad Amreyev met with the Deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan H.E. Rashid Meredov.
H.E. Minister R.Meredov expressed his gratitude to the OTS for its comprehensive support to the Turkmen initiatives and highly assessed undertakings of the Secretariat of the Organization in promoting multifaceted activities of the Organization aimed at strengthening unity between the Turkic states.
Minister and Secretary General discussed the current state of cooperation processes in the framework of the Organization prospects for the development of the Organization in the near future and activities planned within the OTS agenda. They exchanged views on establishing new mechanisms of the OTS for better coordination of an advanced cooperation in the field of energy and transportation.
They noted the importance of developing existing cooperation mechanisms, especially in the economy, transportation, and energy sectors, as well as other cooperation areas like youth, culture, education, tourism, and health.
H.E. Rashid Meredov and H.E. Baghdad Amreyev discourced the preparations for the upcoming OTS Summit in Samarkand on November 11, 2022. In this vein, parties exchanged views on topical issues on the agenda of the Summit of Organization of Turkic States and expressed mutual interest in enhancing the role of Turkmenistan and further deepening cooperation within the framework of the OTS.
H.E. Minister R.Meredov and H.E. Secretary General B.Amreyev discussed also further involvement of Turkmenistan in the activities of the affiliated organizations of the OTS; namely TURKPA, TURKSOY, Turkic Academy, Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and Turkic Chambers of Commerce and Industry, as well as its potential partaking in the Turkic Investment Fund.
Parties had consistent discussion on the development of regional security and emphasized the importance of the preserving sustainable development of the Member and Observer states, as well as other neighboring countries.
