Secretary General of the OTS H.E. Baghdad Amreyev participated and addressed the Xl Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking States (TURKPA) held on 24 June 2022 in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic.
The meeting was hosted by Chairman of Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Talant Mamytov, and also attended by Chairman of the Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan H.E. Yerlan Koshanov, Chairwoman of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan H.E. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye H.E. Mustafa Shentop, Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary Sandor Lezhak, honorary guests - Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majilis of Uzbekistan Tanzilya Narbayeva and Deputy Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Kasymguly Babayev.
In his address to the Plenary session Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev noted that the theme of the meeting “Parliamentary Diplomacy – the Basis of Trust and Partnership” perfectly reflects the difficult political circumstances that the Turkic World going through both at regional and international level, which in turn have consolidated our brotherly ties and showed the importance of the solidarity among Turkic States in international politics.
In this respect, he stressed that the 8th Summit held on 12 November 2021 in Istanbul was indeed an important milestone in the history of the Turkic cooperation and the Organization itself for many reasons.
He said that for the first time in our history, Turkic states have identified the main targets of the next twenty years by adopting the “Turkic World Vision – 2040” document as the main guideline for coordination, cooperation and mutual assistance in addressing domestic and international challenges.
The Head of the Organization of Turkic States underlined the importance of joining Turkmenistan in the OTS and stated that with this enlargement for the first time in our history, all Turkic States are now united under a single roof.
Baghdad Amreyev pointed out that, as the visibility and appeal of the Organization in the international arena increases with the strong support of our member countries, the agenda item of the eleventh plenary session of the TurkPA on renaming the TurkPA into the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States seems to be very timely and appropriate. He expressed confidence that this step will bring the day when both Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are full members of the Parliamentary Assembly closer.
Pointing out that the Plenary session of the Turkic Parlaments was an another step towards ensuring the role of parliamentary diplomacy as an important instrument of trust and partnership, Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev believed that the “Turkic World Vision – 2040”, as well as the five-year strategic road-maps, would be taken as a basis by TurkPA in their future undertakings.
As a result of the event, the Cholpon-Ata Declaration of the XI plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries was adopted.
The signing ceremony of the document on renaming the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries into the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States took place.
In the framework of the Plenary Session, Secretary General had meeting with the Chairman of Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E.
