Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Baghdad Amreyev participated in the “International Forum of Silk Road Countries”, an event that provides a unique platform for the engagement of high-level government representatives, tourism agencies, experts and journalists to address debate and seek effective solutions to the pressing issues concerning the global trends in tourism sector and in the Silk Road countries.
The Forum was opened by H.E. Arystanbek Mukhamediuly, Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who underlined the importance of transport infrastructure, culture and tourism to strengthening the relations among the Silk Road countries.
Further, the Secretary General Amreyev delivered the keynote speech entitled “Prospects for the Cooperation of the Turkic Speaking States in the Development of Tourism on the Silk Road”.
Ambassador Amreyev expressed the importance of the Silk Road revival as “the greatest route of all time” and a network of destinations with immense tourism potential that needs to be further exploited.
The Secretary General briefed the audience on the visibility and promotion of the Turkic Council Modern Silk Road Joint Tour Package that aims to introduce the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Turkic Council Member States. He expressed that the Turkic Speaking States have several comparative advantages to become a long-term center of attraction for tourists and the Turkic Council will take all necessary measures for the empowerment of Silk Road tourism through further implementation and development with relevant projects along this route. Ambassador Amreyev also mentioned about close cooperation established with the UNWTO, UNDP, and UNOSSC to transfer the Silk Road into a well-established and sustainable tourism destination.
The opening session was followed by the First Panel Qinjdao Municipal Commission of Tourism Development of China Mrs. Wang Shujuan, briefed about the significance of the “Belt and Road” project, not only as an economic tool but also becomes as a tourism bridge that strengthening the friendship along the Silk Road Counties.
Another panelist Natalya Revina, head of reception department of the international site –orexca.com introduced Uzbekistan’s experience in promoting of the “Silk Road”.
At the end of the event, Secretary General took part at the official ceremony and launch of the national premium "Silk Way Awards".
