Secretary General of the Turkic Council, Ambassador Ramil Hasanov, attended the opening ceremony of the SIGA Third Sport Integrity Forum
Secretary General of the Turkic Council, Ambassador Ramil Hasanov, attended the opening ceremony of the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) Third Sport Integrity Forum held in Rome on 30 January 2018 with the participation of over 200 people from sporting organizations, governments, and international organizations.

President of the Anti-corruption National Authority of Italy Raffaele Cantone, Minister of Sport of Italy Luca Lotti, SIGA Chairman Franco Frattini, and President of the Italian Olympic Committee Giovanni Malago addressed at the opening session. They underlined the urgency of taking necessary measures to ensure the security and integrity of sport against all threats sport is facing nowadays.

The opening session was followed by the audiovisual message of support of Pope Francis to SIGA for its efforts to secure sport as well as the keynote addresses of the President of UEFA Aleksander Ceferin and former President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso.

On the occasion of the opening session, Secretary General Hasanov had also the opportunity to get in touch with various counterparts from sporting organizations, governments and international organizations and discussed the projects and activities of the Turkic Council on youth and sports. During his contacts, mentioning the Turkic Council’s candidature for membership in SIGA Council, he emphasized the significance of Turkic Council’s membership in SIGA Council with reference to its ability to leverage and support the SIGA values in its geography.

Secretary General Hasanov was accompanied by the Project Director Ali Çiviler and Chief of Protocol Araz Salmanov.
