Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Ramil Hasanov paid a courtesy visit to the President of the World Ethnosport Confederation (WEC) Bilal Erdoğan on 14 April 2017.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the topics of mutual interest in the field of youth and sports. The two sides made evaluations on the 2nd meeting of the Ministers of Youth and Sports of the Turkic Council to be convened on 13 May 2017 in Baku, 3rd World Nomad Games, Ethno-Games to be held on 11-14 May 2017 in Istanbul, the First Turkic University Sports Games to be hosted by Azerbaijan in 2018, Turkic Council International Youth Camps and Festivals to be organized in Turkey and Kazakhstan in August 2017 as well as the Turkic Council Modern Silk Road Joint Tour Package Fam Trips to be organized in April-May 2017.
Noting that traditional sports could have a great effect on the unification of the youth of the Turkic World, Secretary General Hasanov touched upon the prospective involvement of WEC in the organization of the Turkic Council International Youth Camps and Festivals, as well as the University Sports Games. He also invited the WEC President Erdoğan to designate a social media representative from WEC to attend the mentioned Fam Trip to contribute to the promotion of the said tour.
Secretary General invited WEC President Erdoğan to the Second Meeting of the Ministers in charge of Youth and Sports to be held in Baku on 13 May 2017 as well.
WEC President Erdoğan expressed appreciation with the mentioned activities of the Secretariat and showed willingness to participate in the Second Meeting of the Ministers in charge of Youth and Sports as well as the Council’s projects. In this regard, he reiterated that WEC is ready to sign a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at formalizing the enhancing partnership between the two organizations and invited Secretary General Hasanov to the opening ceremony of Ethnosport Games to take place on 11 May 2017 in Istanbul.
Project Director Ali Çiviler and Chief of Protocol Emre Yurdakul accompanied the Secretary General at the said meeting.
