Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Ramil Hasanov participated at the "One Belt One Road-The Driver of World Trade" Forum on 15 June 2017 at the Astana Economic Forum as a Panelist.
The Forum, moderated by Yang Xiyu, Vice President of the Boao Forum for Asia, was attended by some prominent state officials and scholars such as Patrick C P Ho, Secretary General of China Energy Fund Committee; Dimitry Pankin, Chairman of the Eurasian Development Bank; and Ariel Cohen, Senior Fellow of the Atlantic Council, Director General for Energy, Natural Resources and Geopolitics. In his speech, Secretary General Hasanov underlined the importance of the One Belt One Road (OBOR) project with statistical information.
He touched upon the massive transformative power of the 900 bln dollar OBOR project in the wider region with new infrastructural investments on roads, railways, ports and power grids.
Subsequently, Secretary General Hasanov gave an indepth analysis on the Turkic Council`s activities on economy as well as transport and customs along the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor.
He expressed that the Trans-Caspian Corridor is an integral part of the OBOR initiative by putting forward latest positive developments along the corridor that decreased logistical costs and accelerated transport operations. He furher mentioned the prospective transport projects that the Turkic Council is going to put in action along the corridor soon.
Panelists also draw attention to the complexity and inclusiveness of the OBOR project and label it as one of the defining theme of the next century. They highlighted the project`s potential to decrease the income discrepancy seen in the world economy by creating labor for low-income people.
On the margins of the Forum, Secretary General Hasanov held bilateral contacts with the panelists and various participants of the Forum. He also gave briefings to the press agencies of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkey present at the Forum.
Secretary General Hasanov was accompanied by the Project Director of the Turkic Council Ali Civiler, Chief of Protocol Emre Yurdakul and Deputy Director of Financial and Administrative Affairs Araz Salmanov.
