On behalf of the Turkic Council and on my own, I express my condolences and wish of patience to the people of Russian Federation and to the grieved family of Ambassador of Russian Federation to Ankara Andrei Karlov who lost his life after a nefarious armed attack that took place on 19 December 2016 in Ankara at an art gallery. I condemn all kinds of terrorist acts including this treacherous assassination regardless of religion, language and race.
I would like to emphasize my strong belief that this assault aimed at Ambassador Karlov, who made a lot of efforts to resolve the human tragedy in Aleppo, will not serve to any purpose and that all endeavors in the name of peace will continue to be carried out at all costs.
In this respect, I am confident that negotiations to be held in Moscow, the capital of Russian Federation and in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan will reach their ultimate goal and necessary steps will be taken to ensure peace in the region. I would also like to reiterate that, as Turkic Council, we will carry out all the duties that fall upon on our shoulders for the sake of peace and stability, as we did so far. These attacks and acts of terror will not deter us from our goal.
I would like once again to extend my condolences to the family of Ambassador Karlov who lost his life as a result of this treacherous attack and hope that similar events will not repeat ever.
Ambassador Ramil Hasanov
Secretary General of the Turkic Council
