On the margins of the 6th Meeting of the Ministers in Charge of Tourism of the Turkic Council, held on 24 June 2021 in Kokand, Uzbekistan, Secretary General of the Turkic Council and Heads of delegations visited the ‘Kokand University, a non-state higher educational institution established in 2019.
During the visit to the university, Ministers discussed future cooperation opportunities among the universities of the Member and Observer States specialized in tourism-related sectors.
The Parties also touched upon the issues of enhancing cooperation in the training of guides and specialists in the field of hotel management and construction of hotels and guest houses.
Briefing the participants about the Turkic University Union and Orkhun Exchange Program, Secretary General Amreyev proposed to the Kokand University, along with other universities of the Member States, to fully utilize the potential of these instruments in strengthening cooperation and network among tourism-related higher education institutions.
In this vein, Secretary General strongly proposed Kokand University to become a member of the Turkic University Union.
On the occasion of announcement of Kokand as the “Turkic World Tourism Capital”, the Kokand University expressed its readiness to provide special discounts and privileges for citizens of Turkic countries, as well as to cooperate in organising summer schools for tourism sector students under special thematic programs.
During the visit to the Kokand University, delegations also attended the ceremony of laying cornerstone to the foundation of the "Tafakkur Gulshani" (Mindset Garden) monument dedicated to popularizing the reading, which reflects the names of great writers of the Member and Observer States, as well as the ceremony of placing capsule with an address to future generations.
