Turkic Council Secretary General H.E. Baghdad Amreyev took part in the 38th Session of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of TURKSOY Member States in Khiva, Uzbekistan on 15 September 2021.
The Annual Session of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of TURKSOY was moderated by H.E. Ozodbek Nazarbekov, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and attended by H.E.Aziz Abdukhakimov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism of Uzbekistan, H.E.Anar Karimov, Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan, H.E. Kairat Imanaliev, Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan, H.E.Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, H.E.Dusen Kaseinov Secretary General of TURKSOY, H.E.Nurkisa Daueshov, Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan, H.E.Nursakhet Shirimov, Deputy Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Ms. Marina Semyonova, Head of the Main Department of Culture and Tourism of Gagauzia (Moldova), H.E.Olgun Amjaoglu, Minister of National Education and Culture of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Hungary, H.E. Péter Szijjártó, also attended the Session as the honourable guest.
The Annual report of the Secretary General of TURKSOY on the activities of the Secretariat over the past period was delivered to the attention of the participants and the Organization’s Activity Plan for 2022 was approved.
In the course of the Session, the status of “Cultural capital of the Turkic world-2022” was granted to the Turkey’s city of Bursa, the list of outstanding personalities of culture and art of Turkic peoples was adopted, and the anniversary and commemorative dates were determined to be celebrated for the coming year.
The Permanent Council agreed on the election of the new Secretary General of TURKSOY and the adoption of amendments to the legal documents of its Secretariat during the next Session to be held in Bursa.
In his address to the meeting, the Secretary General of Turkic Council H.E. Baghdad Amreyev noted that the International Conference entitled “Central Asia at the Crossroads of World Civilizations” which was organized in Khiva prior to the Permanent Council Meeting of TURKSOY, as well as the 5th Meeting of the Ministers in Charge of Youth and Sports of the Turkic Council and the First Young Entrepreneurs Forum to be organized in Tashkent on 20 September, clearly put forth the growing role of Uzbekistan in intensification of multilateral relations and integration in the Turkic World. He emphasized that active steps in this direction were taken under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which have given impetus to the development of the multifaceted cooperation among the Turkic Council Member States.
The Secretary General shared with the participants the agenda of the upcoming Summit of the Head of States due to take place in Istanbul on 12 November 2021 and underlined that in the new Strategy and 2040 Vision of the Cooperation of the Turkic World, a considerable part is dedicated to the fields of culture, education and people to people cooperation.
The TURKSOY Permanent Council meeting in Tashkent has proved the important role of this Organisation in strengthening the cooperation between the Turkic States in the field of culture, literature and art, as well as the people to people interaction and contributed to the groundwork of the Turkic Council Summit to take place in Istanbul.
