Upon invitation, Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev paid a working visit to Doha. During the visit he met with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar H.E. Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi and discuss the pressing issues of common concern.
At the meeting that took place on 5 June 2021 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Secretary General and the Minister discussed ways of strengthening the cooperation between the Turkic Council and Qatar, as well as the cooperation in regional and international arena.
Parties discussed the cooperation in the framework of the OIC and expressed hope that the cooperation between the Turkic Council and the OIC would be in the high interest of both Turkic world and Islamic world.
Secretary General Amreyev reiterated Turkic Council’s willingness to establish an institutional cooperation with the OIC, highlighted that member states are expecting the process to be concluded at the upcoming 48th OIC CFM session.
Moreover, based on the great potential for enhanced cooperation between both sides, Secretary General and Minister exchanged views on possible areas of cooperation through which the Parties can carry forward the existing excellent bilateral relations among Qatar and the Turkic Council Member States. In this framework, Secretary General informed the Minister about the ongoing preparations for the draft Regulation setting out the modalities of cooperation with the third parties.
Parties agreed to prepare a draft partnership agreement through which they would enhance their cooperation on a wide range of topics such as politics, economy, logistics, ICT, tourism, youth and sports among others, and to continue the deliberations on the subject-matter in the upcoming period. They further agreed that Turkic Council and Qatar could also capitalize on the prospective Turkic Investment and Development Fund as another beneficial platform where they can enrich their partnership relations with solid joint projects.
