Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev participated in the events of Cultural Week of the Turkic World dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of TURKSOY held on 14-17 November 2018 in Japan.
During the Cultural Week, Secretary General attended a special event where TURKSOY Folk Instrumental Orchestra displayed a memorable performance at “Culttz Centre” on 14 November 2018 in Kawasaki. The Folk Instrumental Orchestra consisting of musicians from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Hungary; as well as, Autonomous Republics of the Russian Federation namely; Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Altai, Sakha, Tyva and Khakassia; and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia (Moldova) performed the well-known musical pieces of the Turkic culture. The event raised an extensive awareness in the Japanese community on the Turkic cultural heritage and was widely participated including the Mayor of Kawasaki, foreign ambassadors accredited in Japan, high officials, academicians, and citizens of Kawasaki.
Secretary General also participated and delivered a speech in the symposium dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the great Kyrgyz writer and thinker Chyngyz Aitmatov held on 16 November 2018 at “Akasaka Hall” in Tokyo. The event was organized to introduce the legacy of Aitmatov to the Japanese community and his significant place in the world literature.
In his address, Secretary General highlighted the great role of Aitmatov in presenting the Turkic World on the global stage and underlined the importance of cultural exchange between Japan and the Turkic world.
Adviser of the President of Kyrgyzstan Sultan Rayev, Secretary General of TURKSOY Duisen Kasseinov, Professor of Tsukuba University Sei Matsushita and representative of Kyrgyzstan to TURKSOY Hojogeldi Kuluyev also addressed the audience on the significant place of Aitmatov in world literature. Japanese officials, foreign ambassadors and intellectuals shared their insights and appreciation of the heritage of Chyngyz Aitmatov.
