Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev participated in the 25th OSCE Ministerial Council held on 6-7 December 2018 in Milan as a special guest of the OSCE Italian Chairmanship.
A total of 67 Foreign Ministers of the OSCE Participating States and Partner countries for cooperation as well as senior representatives of international organizations attended the Ministerial Council where the key security issues including the crisis in and around Ukraine, peaceful resolution of the protracted conflicts on the territories of Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Republic of Azerbaijan, security of the Mediterranean region and combating terrorism were at the forefront of the issues highlighted by the Ministers.
On the first day of the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Elmar Mammadyarov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Chingiz Aidarbekov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Kairat Abdrakhmanov respectively have addressed the audience emphasizing regional issues on the OSCE agenda.
Beyond regional issues, Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Chingiz Aidarbekov, in his capacity representing the current Chairman-in-Office of the Turkic Council expressed the gratitude of the Turkic Council Member States to the Italian Chairmanship for inviting the Organization to the 25th OSCE Ministerial Council Meeting as a guest. He also emphasized that the active participation of the Turkic Council as a regional cooperation mechanism in the work of the OSCE will contribute to the attainment of the common goals shared by both organizations.
On the sidelines of the ministerial meeting, Secretary General had a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Elmar Mammadyarov. Secretary General also had talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Kairat Abdrakhmanov. The Parties exchanged views on current cooperation efforts of the Secretariat.
Secretary General was accompanied by Project Directors Jeyhun Shahverdiyev and Ozge Pan.
