Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev was received by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek on 3 October 2019.
Secretary General expressed his happiness to meet with the President in his capacity of the Chairman in Office of the Turkic Council on this historical day marking the 10th anniversary of signing of Nakhchivan Agreement, establishing the Turkic Council as an international organization, and which is celebrated as the Cooperation Day of Turkic Speaking States.
Secretary General briefed the President on the events and activities organized by the Turkic Council during the Chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic for the period between October 2018 - October 2019 and expressed his deep appreciation to Kyrgyzstan for its continuous support given to the Turkic Council in development of multilateral relations among the Turkic-Speaking States as well as in strengthening the institutional capacity of the Turkic Council.
Secretary General also informed the President Jeenbekov on the ongoing preparations of the upcoming 7th Summit of the Turkic Council, which will take place on 15 October 2019 in Baku, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkic Council and events to be organized in this context.
His Excellency President Sooronbay Jeenbekov highlighted the achievements made by Turkic Council during the past 10 years especially in the period between last Summit of Turkic Council in Cholpon-Ata and upcoming meeting of Heads of States in Baku. President Jeenbekov underlined the special significance of Uzbekistan’s accession in Turkic Council and opening of the European office of the Turkic Council in Hungary (Budapest) on 19 September 2019, which is aimed at developing the Council's relations with European countries, the European Union and with other European international organizations.
The President and the Secretary General exchanged views on the implementation of the Decisions of the Heads of State on enhancing economic dimensions of the Turkic Cooperation. In this context, Secretary General Amreyev reported President Jeenbekov on the establishment of the Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) of Turkic Speaking Countries and efforts undertaken by the Secretariat to set up a Turkic Joint Investment Fund (TJIF), as well as large scale business forums that took place in Member States.
President Jeenbekov wished the Secretary General success in his efforts in increasing the cooperation among Turkic Council’s Members and expressed his confidence that he will successfully continue to provide a fruitful ground for the realization all the tasks of the Organization.
