On 26 October 2020, Secretary General of the Turkic Council H.E. Baghdad Amreyev met with the Prime Minister and Acting President of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Mr. Sadyr Japarov.
Prime Minister - Acting President welcomed the Secretary General and thanked him for his visit to Bishkek during this transition period.
He expressed his satisfaction with the expanding scope of activities of the Turkic Council and reiterated the determination of Kyrgyzstan for closer cooperation within the Turkic Council. S. Japarov particularly stressed that his country will actively take part in the initiatives of the Organization for enhancing the integration process among the Member States and the new government will continue to fully cooperate with the Turkic countries.
Secretary General extended his gratitude to the Acting President for the meeting and stated that Kyrgyzstan is a key and active member of the Turkic Council while stressing the importance of the invaluable heritage of the ancient land of Kyrgyzstan for the Turkic World. He expressed his confidence in Kyrgyzstan’s continued participation in the agenda and integration process of the Turkic Council.
Secretary General briefed S. Japarov on the current activities, ongoing projects and latest achievements of the Organization, as well as the implementation of the decisions taken at the previous Summits of the Turkic Council.
B.Amreyev also informed the Head of the Kyrgyz Government on the efforts exerted by the Turkic Council in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, including the establishment of the Coordination Committee on health, scientific group on health and supply chain group, as well as the upcoming ministerial meeting in the field of health scheduled to take place on 30 October 2020 in Istanbul.
Parties exchanged views on the agenda of cooperation areas within the framework of the Turkic Council, particularly the enlargement process and institutional development, activities of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the establishment process of the Turkic Investment Fund.
Secretary General and Acting President reaffirmed their common will to furthering development and deepening collaboration within the framework of the Turkic Council.
S.Japarov informed the Secretary General on the present political situation in Kyrgyzstan. He said that the situation in the country remains stable as a legitimate parliament and a legitimate government were established in accordance with the Constitution.
Touching upon current politico-economic challenges facing Kyrgyzstan, the Acting President underlined that the new government will be able to overcome these challenges and to lay the groundwork for ensuring a more harmonious implementation of the Constitution.
He also briefed Secretary General regarding the preparations for the upcoming presidential elections planned to be held on 10th January 2021 which would be followed by comprehensive reforms.
S. Japarov stressed that Kyrgyzstan has a strong determination to adhere to the democratic values and the principles of the rule of law as the best way for maintaining stability and prosperity of the country.
Underlining the importance of maintaining stability and development in Kyrgyzstan, Secretary General Amreyev expressed his confidence in the amelioration of the political situation in Kyrgyzstan.
He hoped that the new government would pursue efforts for a lasting settlement of the ongoing political challenges in the country in line with the legal framework and constitutional order.
B. Amreyev stated that the upcoming elections would be a cornerstone for the transition to a stable Kyrgyzstan and become a turning point for the brotherly Kyrgyz people of a new era of sustainable development and prosperity.
