Secretary General of the Turkic Council H.E. Baghdad Amreyev paid a working visit to Baku on 8-9 September 2020.
During the visit, he met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E. Mr. Jeyhun Bayramov.
He congratulated Mr. Jeyhun Bayramov on the occasion of his appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and wished him every success in carrying out foreign policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Secretary General also expressed his confidence that ongoing support of Azerbaijan to the work of the Turkic Council will continue unabatedly under his term further.
Minister Bayramov emphasized with satisfaction with growing activities of the Turkic Council, its enlargement process after the successful Baku Summit with joining of new member state, as well as increased attention of the many countries to get observer status.
The Minister also thanked the Secretary-General, emphasizing the principled position of the Turkic Council on Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict based on the norms and principles of international law, primarily the UN Security Council resolutions.
Noting that the last Baku Summit was a qualitatively new stage in the organization's activities, the Secretary General highly appreciated Azerbaijan's active and connecting role in the Turkic Council. He gave the Minister comprehensive information on the ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation and integration on a wide range of areas within the organization.
Congratulating Azerbaijan on its successful Chairmanship of the Turkic Council, Baghdad Amreyev also briefed the Minister on the results of the Extraordinary Summit held on 10 April 2020 upon the initiative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the fight against the pandemic, as well as other video conference meetings of the Ministers in different spheres of cooperation, and expressed confidence that Azerbaijan will successfully continue to lead the organization until the next chairmanship.
Parties also exchanged views on the agenda of cooperation in a wide range of areas within the Turkic Council, preparations for the next Summit, as well as the ways for further development and deepening of the integration processes among the Turkic Council countries.
